The company’s foundation

This 25th November will be the 100th anniversary of the signing of the deed of constitution of Compañía Trasmediterránea, S.A. It was signed in Barcelona by Joaquín María Tintoré, representing Línea de Vapores Tintoré; Enrique García Corrons, Director of Sociedad Anónima Navegación e Industria; José Juan Dómine, Founder of Compañía Valenciana de Vapores Correos de África and Vicente Ferrer Pesset, on behalf of Ferrer Pesset Hermanos.

The founders of Trasmediterránea formed this great company with the contributions of fleets from the shipping companies they represented. The new company began marine operations in the commercial maritime sector on 1 January 1917, with a fleet of 44 ships of various tonnage, some rather modern at the time.

A century later, Compañía Trasmediterránea continues to maintain regular passenger and cargo connections, which have been non-stop over all these years, between the main ports on the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla, Morocco and Algeria.
